Our Client raised concerns with respect to the condition of a reinforced concrete structure at a paper mill situated in Gauteng, and appointed DPA to undertake a preliminary investigation of the structure.

Numerous areas of severe concrete spalling were noticed during the preliminary investigation and DPA were subsequently requested to conclude a detailed concrete diagnostic investigation of the structure.

The objective of the investigation was to undertake a diagnostic survey in localised but selected areas in order to assess the general condition of the reinforced concrete with respect to corrosion and durability. DPA were also asked to provide an opinion as to the overall durability of the structure and finally, to provide an appropriate remedial option and associated approximate budget estimates.
